Vacuum-Enhanced Groundwater Pump & Treat System

Design, Construction, & Installation of an 8-Well Vacuum-Enhanced Groundwater Pump & Treat System

We designed, constructed, and installed a vacuum enhanced groundwater pump and treat system at a former gasoline station that was redeveloped along with two adjoining properties into a national retail chain drugstore.  Over 485 feet of trenching and system piping was required due to the site redevelopment.  The installed system was capable of treating and discharging over 25 gallons per minute of recovered groundwater while applying a constant vacuum of over 5 inches of mercury to all 8 extraction wells, simultaneously.  Installation of the underground piping was completed by our remedial staff with a two week notice from the site developer.  Our staff electricians custom designed and built the system electrical panels, and the system was constructed in house by our remedial technicians.  These capabilities help reduce both start up costs and operation and maintenance costs due to our familiarity with the system components.  The project was completed under the approved budget, NFA status was obtained, and all costs were reimbursed by the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board.
